Happy Heroes - Children with Additional Needs Charity.

An inclusive playgroup for children with additional needs charity.

Happy Heroes Charity.

Happy Heroes is an inclusive playgroup, currently held twice a month for children up to the age of 10 with additional needs, their siblings and parents/carers. Our volunteers who attend the sessions to help and support are all DBS checked and have childcare experience. We have insurance which covers our sessions and all ‘staff’ are first aid trained.

Our Aim.

Our aim is to be a safe, enclosed environment for children with additional needs to play, socialise with their peers and have a place where they can be completely themselves with no judgement.

We provide a space for parents/carers to relax knowing their children are safe and engage with other families who are in similar circumstances. We provide emotional support to parents and carers.

We hope to host monthly parent meetings for parents to meet without their children to discuss any difficulties they are facing or seek advice from other families. We can also signpost to various other agencies/charities when appropriate.

Looking Ahead.

To continue to spread the word about Happy Heroes and build our community.
To raise funds in order to continue to provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive setting.
Using funds raised, purchase a range of specialist play equipment for children with specific additional needs and disabilities.
To make our entrance more wheelchair friendly and accessible.
To provide communication aids for the non speaking children to use whilst at Happy Heroes. To conduct fund raising events such as: charity bike ride, raffles etc.

OUR SPONSOR.

Happy Heroes is very proud to announce we are being sponsored by Rok Construction ROK Group for 2024 .

Who We are.

Happy Heroes is 100% non profit and will continue to be. All money raised through fundraising and donations will go back into the group through more sessions, activities and play equipment and communication aids.

What People Are Saying.

  • Happy Heroes provides a wonderful safe, fun place for me to take my son with additional needs. It can be hard finding a place he enjoys and can do so freely without judgement for any of his behavioural tendencies. For a parent it makes a huge difference having somewhere to take your child to and know he is free to be himself and to be amongst parents who share similar experiences.

  • I would like to thank all the staff for the Happy Heroes sessions that take place. It’s a safe space where you can let your child be them self without being judged. I really enjoyed my time there as well as the kids they had so much fun with all the different activities that were available.

  • Happy Heroes - Children With Additional Needs is a huge blessing to our lives. A safe haven, providing the most amazing, safe, sensory stimulating environment whereby all parents can take some time to relax and everyone is in tune with one another, and where all neurodiverse children can be themselves, be happy, active, have fun and most importantly feel comfortable in an environment. Happy Heroes is a wondrous part of our life, and we are so, so grateful for the sessions and for those whom made it possible.

  • Joining Happy Heroes play group has been a has been a game-changer for our family. Having a safe space to take my daughter on the weekends for fun that is tailored and suitable for her is impossible to find anywhere else on the island. The dedicated team create a truly nurturing environment, fostering social skills and inclusivity. Not only has it been a source of joy and growth for her, but it's also provided us, as parents, with invaluable connections within the special needs community. The support and camaraderie we've found are truly priceless. Thank you!

  • Happy Heroes has not only been amazing for my son, 4.5 years Autistic, but also for us as parents. My son gets his freedom to play and interact where he chooses without judgement and in safety. We get the chance to share our struggles with other parents that are going through the same or similar experiences to us. We would highly recommend Happy Heroes to anyone with a child that has additional needs and want to thank them for welcoming us with open arms.

  • Happy heroes offers a safe, judgment free, supportive environment for children with additional needs to play, explore and be themselves. It also has aspirations, as a charity, to do so much more in offering families with children of additional needs a much needed support network in the Island

  • Happy Heroes has been our savior. As a wife of a shift worker, juggling three children with additional needs can be quite daunting when my husband is working. Knowing that I have a safe, non judgmental space for them to play and be themselves is such a relief and a weight off my mind. Thank you Happy Heroes

  • Robyn, Emma and the Rest of the team are amazing. We have been attending happy heroes since the beginning. So much thought goes into setting up the sessions, there are so many sensory stimulants and a wide variety of safe activities. It’s a great space where my children can play freely and safely, where parents/carers can relax a little and are supported by one and other. But most importantly My boys are always happy there!

  • Happy Heroes is a fantastic sanctuary for children & their Parents/carers. I love volunteering & seeing the children express themselves without any judgement. A safe place where they can be themselves! It's equally important for Parents to be able to have a safe place to chat with others & get much needed support which they might struggle to find elsewhere.
